sunkisst

We kicked back at the pool today. That shine reflecting on the water? Apparently it’s called the sun and it decided to come out to play today. It is late April after all.

The girls swam for four hours! We hopped between the big pool, the kiddie pool and the hot tub. Handstands, somersaults, back flips, cannonballs, spinning, ring around the rosie, laps, jumping, slashing, floating, diving, retrieving sunken dolphins, blowing bubbles, giggling, goo-goo goggles…oh my yes. It was quite perfect, especially since it was practically all ours during school hours.

I got in a little reading, as much as I could between playing in the water, keeping a watchful eye, fetching pool toys, taking photos, watching new jumps off the edge, getting snacks, applying sunscreen, and whatever else I was asked to do. This book is good but a slow read for me as it takes a lot of focus- something I seem to be lacking these days. I did enjoy reading about cranes today and how their dwindling numbers prompted naturalists to raise them from hatching, showing them the best migration route via an ultralight. Interesting stuff. And I may have burned to a crisp gotten a base tan.

And what’s the only thing to do after a hot day at the pool? Head immediately home for a bath, scrubbing that nasty chlorine out of your hair? Noooo! You hit the 31 cent Scoop Night at Baskin Robbins to support your local firefighters (after you get a slice of pizza at the best place in town). We checked out the big fire truck and learned a few new things.
Tip from me: Don’t wait for the official 5:00 start time to enter the store. You’ll be waiting in line long enough to ensure you get the discount.
Tip from Camille: don’t get the Firehouse #31 flavor. The cinnamon is too spicy.
Tip from Juliet: it’s never too hot to be fashionable. It’s SoCal, baby.
